Praise for his love

We humans are pretty sane, at least we try to be. Therefore the notion of loving someone who does not love us back can easily be concluded as pathetic. The idea of loving someone who goes
care-freely unconcerned of our acts feels uncomfortable and painful at times. But I discovered that the unrequited love is salutary in it’s own way.

He called, it was a drunk call. The whole story has nothing to do with him being drunk but only for the part where he wanted to talk freely or wanted me to think so, may be. He is one of the smartest person I know; rational fellow, intellect and quite a philosopher. And yet, he loves a girl who didn’t love him back for years. I knew this but that was the first time he shared his story and it got me thinking.

In real world, we get frustrated by people’s selfishness, hate them for their mediocrity and indifference but with the unrequited love we can have the abundant munificence of loving like parent of a newly born. So he went into expressing his love as the love of male widow spider; the feeling of sacrifice for your beloved. Just a simple “hi” from her makes his day immensely better. He can adore her as the image of Lord Ram ( which is the most perfect human image that is there).

It’s an exercise for optimism with which he says he has found his ideals for how a human being should be. He still remembers the first day he meet and how beautiful she looked in her black dress which came up to her knees. For him, she represents the archive of every good thing he can imagine in a human being; her intellect, wit and humble behavior. It’s a delusional ground he goes to visit which never disappoints him with the reality of knowing her in person. He cares less about how she will be in time of crisis, hectic day or mundanities of her everyday life.

The Gadsby feeling he shares for her goes deeper into human nature which flows directionless in only one person’s mind. It is an act of boundless hope and optimism; not in sense of existing side-by-side with her in reality but with the wonders in his mind about the possible scenario of spending time with her. That is lives within life. It’s a powerful emotion of longing without causing any trouble to her.

It’s a strong human emotion we humans are capable of, without which we would be left in the bareness of reality. His love for her oscillates between the resignation on reality and entropy of emanation on unrequited love for her. There is so much in life than there ever will be for him. Such love build those planks which shapes the ship of human feelings for profound emotions. For that moment while he was describing her, I loved her unrequitedly….
